Property Damage Uninsured Motorist

A large portion of claims resulting from an auto accident are for property damage. Uninsured motorist insurance helps to cover the cost of these damages when one of the drivers involved doesn't have insurance coverage. Uninsured motorist insurance will pay for damages to the automobile of the person that is covered under this type of policy when the other party isn't insured. The amount of damages covered is contingent on the limits placed on the policy. There is an added cost in order to have uninsured motorist coverage, and the limits vary from state to state. Uninsured motorist coverage doesn't always cover the entire amount of the damages, but in conjunction with other insurance coverage, most of the costs are paid for. A motorist may sue the faulted party in court for any balance of costs that are not covered under their insurance policy.
