I was a passenger in my friends car and got into an accident with an uninsured motorist. How do I recover for injury damage?
I was in a car accident and my back is injured. I have a herniated disc and a lower back injury as a result. Because of these injuries, I’m having difficulty walking and breathing. Its painful and I have tingling in my legs and numbness. I can’t work because of the pain. The problem is, my friend was driving the car and someone else who fled the scene hit him. The police haven’t identified the driver that fled the scene. What do I do, I don't know if I can sue my friend because it wasn’t really his fault but I need to get some money from this so I can pay my medical bills and support myself until I get better.

Unfortunately, in an accident caused by a hit and run, it can be very difficult to bring a lawsuit against the responsible party. However, you should be able to recover damages under the Uninsured Motorist Coverage on your friend’s car insurance. If you have your own insurance, you may also be able to recover damages under your own uninsured motorist policy. Before speaking to the insurance representatives and/or filing a claim with any insurers, you should speak to an experienced personal injury attorney who can provide you with guidance on this complex situation.
