CEO of Campbell Involved in Auto Accident

August 3, 2009

Douglas Conant, the CEO of Campbell Soup Co., was recently involved in an automobile accident in New Jersey. He was a passenger in the back of a company car that was being operated by his driver on the New Jersey Turnpike. He was on his way to a meeting with investors when the car collided with a second vehicle.

According to a Campbell spokesperson, Conant suffered broken ribs and other injuries. He was forced to have surgery over the weekend. His driver suffered several cuts and bruises. The company was not aware of any citations that had been issued to either driver.

The company has announced Conant will miss a meeting with investors in North Carolina next week, and he will be hospitalized for a brief period, while he recovers. He will remain in control of the company, as his injuries will not affect his ability to make company decisions.
