Woman Sues Morgan Freeman for Negligence in Auto Accident
June 16, 2009
In February, Demaris Meyer was riding in a car with Morgan Freeman, five miles from his home in Mississippi. The car ran off the road and flipped, and both passengers were severely injured in the accident. Meyer is now suing Freeman in the U.S. District court in Oxford, Mississippi.
Meyer claims that Freeman was negligent and that he caused the accident. She is suing him for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages from work, permanent disability and property damage. However, Freeman’s attorney has introduced an argument that Meyer, herself, may be held responsible for the accident, even though she was not driving.
The attorney did not elaborate on the details, but it expected that the point will be argued during the lawsuit. She claims that Freeman had several drinks before driving her car to his home, and that she is responsible for breaking up Freeman’s 24-year marriage.
